Join us on April 23-24, 2026 for the Heterodox Academy (HxA) West Coast Regional Conference at the University of California, Berkeley.

Centered on the theme “The Value of Viewpoint Diversity: Why It Matters and How to Practice It Well”, this conference will offer actionable insights, foster rich intellectual exchange, and bring together individuals from across the region who are invested in the future of higher education.

If you're in California, Oregon, or Washington and you're an HxA member, HxA curious, or simply interested in exploring the values of viewpoint diversity, join us this April in Berkeley, California. 

The conference will take place at Anna Head Alumnae Hall. Programming will begin late afternoon on Thursday, April 23 (exact start time TBD) and will conclude by 5:00 PM on Friday, April 24, following a full day of programming.

Conference Highlights

Current session highlights include:

  • Keynote address by Musa al-Gharbi, Stony Brook University
  • Panel discussion on Viewpoint Diversity: Meanings, Rationales, Forms, and Limits
  • Panel discussion on Teaching Strategies for Viewpoint Diversity
  • Session discussing the paper “The Closed Classroom? An Analysis of College Syllabi on Contentious Issues.”

We are pleased to offer dynamic pricing for this conference:

  • Students: $20
     Includes all current undergraduate and graduate students
  • Adjunct Faculty, Instructors, and Post-Docs: $40
     Includes adjunct professors, lecturers, instructors, and academic post-doctoral scholars
  • Full-Time Faculty and Professionals: $60
     Includes tenure-track and tenured faculty, staff and administrators, and non-higher-education professionals
