How AI is Reshaping Inquiry and Disagreement in Higher Ed

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how knowledge is created, shared, and debated across higher education. From research and teaching to public discourse, AI presents both new opportunities and serious challenges for universities committed to truth-seeking, open inquiry, and constructive disagreement.

Join Heterodox Academy (HxA) on October 22 from 4:00–5:00 PM ET for a conversation on how AI is reshaping inquiry and disagreement in higher ed. Moderated by Nicole Barbaro, HxA’s Director of Communications, Marketing, and Events, the discussion will feature Simon Cullen, Co-Founder of the Sway AI chat platform and Faculty Research Fellow at HxA’s Segal Center for Academic Pluralism; David Rozado, Associate Professor of Data Science and Machine Learning at Otago Polytechnic; and Hollis Robbins, Professor of English and Special Advisor for Humanities Diplomacy at the University of Utah. Together, they will explore how AI tools might influence curiosity, knowledge production, and the conditions for meaningful disagreement in academic life.
