Viewpoint Diversity Discussion

Please join us for a discussion of viewpoint diversity with the Heterodox Academy Campus Community at the University of South Carolina on Tuesday, September 30, at 2 p.m. We will meet in the 2nd floor conference room in DeSaussure (behind Osborne).

Heterodox Academy has been advocating for viewpoint diversity in higher education for a decade now. As our university participates in founding a new accreditor that would evaluate universities partly on policies related to viewpoint diversity, there has been significant discussion among faculty on this topic. Is viewpoint diversity the death knell of academic freedom, or its foundation? What policies promote it, and what constrain it?

We'll discuss these questions and more, and also think through an event or other ways to advocate for constructive disagreement and viewpoint diversity at USC.
